DETROIT, MI -- The Michigan State-Michigan rivalry has appeared to take a fun twist now that the daughters of Eminem and Madonna appear enrolled at the colleges and will likely start attending classes in East Lansing and Ann Arbor this fall.
Eminem's daughter, Hailie Jade Scott, is a Spartan, according to Chippewa Valley High School's May/June newsletter posted online.
And Madonna's daughter, Lourdes Ciccone Leonis, is reportedly enrolled at the University of Michigan, based on a Detroit Free Press story posted Wednesday on its website.
Michigan State's Office of Admissions wouldn't confirm or deny Friday to MLive.com if Hailie Jade Scott is currently enrolled for classes "due to privacy reasons."
But two sources close to MSU that are familiar with the enrollment process confirmed to MLive.com that Hailie Jade Scott's status at the college is accurate.
They declined to speak on record due to privacy concerns pertaining to students with high-profile parents.
Attempts Friday to reach Dennis Dennhy, Eminem's publicist, to confirm or deny the news were unsuccessful.
The Chippewa Valley High newsletter posted online mentions that Hailie Jade Scott was a National Honor Society member, involved in the school's Art club and Key club, played volleyball and was a member of the student council.
Hailie Jade Scott is profiled in the newsletter along with other seniors who earned Summa Cum Laude honors - given to those with a 3.9 GPA or above. You can find her picture and profile on the seventh page.
She mentions in the newsletter that her father (whose real name is Marshall Mathers) and mother, Kimberly Scott, "have pushed me to be the person I am and have given me all the support to achieve what I have."
The newsletter for the Clinton Township, Mich. public school also mentions her desire to either pursue a career in psychology or be an entrepreneur.
Two Chippewa Valley High honors highlighted Hailie Jade Scott's profile: an Academic Excellence Award and a Department of Psychology Award.
Eminem and Madonna both have strong ties to Metro Detroit.
Eminem was born in St. Joseph, Mo., but spent most of his childhood in Warren and Detroit.
Madonna, whose real name is Madonna Louis Ciccone, was born in Bay City, Mich., but raised primarily in the Detroit suburbs of Pontiac and Avon Township (now Rochester Hills).
